St Ives has 5 lovely beaches all within a few minutes walk from the house. Porthmeor beach - in front of the Tate Gallery - is good for surfing and has a surf school, equipment hire & a fabulous beach cafe. Porthminster is a great family beach - very safe bathing & an amazingly good restaurant with roof terrace & wonderful views. The Harbour Beach is great for boats and the level golden sand makes it very safe.

Golf
There is a lovely golf course on the coast at Lelant called West Cornwall G.C. and is quite exacting especially when the wind blows. Just 10 mins drive away. Truro & Perranporth golf courses are approx. 40 minute drive.

Within walking distance of Porthmeor View
There are many varied shops, restaurants, café and pubs within a few minutes walk. Such as 2 Co-op supermarkets, Newsagents, Bakers, Butcher, Greengrocers, Boots Pharmacy, Clothing Stores, Surfing, Gift, Fudge, Pasty, Ice Cream. Banks - Natwest, LLoyds, Barclays, and HSBC, all with cash points. There is a Tesco supermarket just a few minutes drive away in Carbis Bay.

We also have a Cinema in town and Leisure Centre just outside in the top car park. The South West coastal path runs in both directions from St.Ives. The walk to Zennor is extremely beautiful but quite strenuous - the pub is at the end to revive you and there are buses back! In the opposite direction. Walk along the cliffs above Carbis Bay and Lelant beaches and catch the little local train back. The Leisure centre (few mins walk away) has a pool, gym etc. and the Porthminster Hotel has a newly opened Spa.

Boats leave the harbour regularly on visits to Seal island - there are masses of seals to be seen along this coast and every so often you are lucky enough to see dolphins. You can take the open top bus from St.Ives to Lands End - a great way to see the coast, moors, farms & villages.
